Starting earlier because we have to be out of the building by 8PM sharp.
Dinner: Box dinner from the new upscale restaurant in downtown Springfield, Season’s Bistro
Dinner will be brought in from Season’s:
1) Grilled turkey, tomato, bacon, and avocado are piled high and grilled on Texas toast. Side of potato salad or house salad with choice of dressings, plus drink.
2) Grilled chicken breast stopped with pesto mayonnaise, jack cheese, and balsamic onion, served on focaccia.

Months ago we had a meeting on the History of South Charleston. This time we’re looking ahead to new technologies, new energy generation, new health therapies, and new housing and lifestyles that are on the horizon for all of us. A variety of sources, shown as big screen video via the internet. Presented in the new community room of the remodeled and expanded Houston Library.
Business meeting, including election of officers preceeds the “Future of South Charleston.”
Note the earlier time: 6:00PM rather than the normal 6:30PM.
All are welcome. The room hold almost 90 people so please bring friends. Reservations needed for dinner. No reservations needed if you just want to attend the meeting.

January meeting is being arranged now. [Didn’t quite make it in January. Got cooked in the squat, so we’ll try to have a commerce-related economic development meeting late in Feb or in sometime in March.]

We have a DVD available showing scores of historic South Charleston area photos plus memorabilia. Josh Murray compiled and produced the DVD and has a few copies left for sale. You can reach him at 215-2471 or jmurrunnerssu@yahoo.com
Josh is producing a new DVD showing many of the same images, but with modern photographs of the same sites staged from the same vantage points.
Have you seen the two other Clark County historic compilations from two of our other Club members, George Berkhofer and Larry Marples? Both their books are available for sale at Circa Designs here in downtown South Charleston. Circa Designs is, among many things, a study in area history and culture. Stop in. It’s chock full of unique or rare Christmas gifts.
While you’re at it, take a look at our other two other South Charleston owned antique stores, Spears Antiques, also on Chillicothe Street and up by the fair grounds is AAA-I70 Antique Mall.

In recent years we’ve not had a January meeting. This time, in an effort to introduce more people to Community Club, we’re trying to work around other local activities and schedules so more can attend. The January 2008 meeting will be a non-Tuesday evening — date to be determined.
